Capital City Auto Auction Presents the Chevy Tahoe
A Dealer’s Review of The Chevy Tahoe
Brief History
Relatively new, the Tahoe has only been around since the mid 90s. It was the renamed full-size Blazer SUV, specifically branded to match the Lake Tahoe area, known for its beautiful wilderness.
The Chevy Tahoe was Motor Trend’s truck of the year in 1996. There are both 2-door and 4-door versions.
A second generation arrived in 2000, the third in 2007, the 4th in 2015, and the current 5th generation rolled onstage in 2021.

π The Best Chevy Tahoe Years:
The Chevy Tahoe is quite popular in America. In 25 years, the Tahoe has outsold other competitors like the Ford Expedition, Toyota Sequoia, and Nissan Armada. It’s only real rival has been the GMC Yukon, but that’s the same company, so who’s counting?

There is praise for the 1995-1998 Chevy Tahoe. These early models have very few complaints and many of them have put well over 250,000 miles over their 20+ year history.
Despite the recalls, the 2000 Chevy Tahoe has few complaints. So too does the 2006, 2012-2014, and the newer models since 2016.
The 2000 Chevy Tahoe was highly rated by Consumer Reports. Carsmite aggregates data from different ratings together and not only recommends the 2000, but also the 2012-2014, and the newer models from 2016 until the 5th generation, while urging caution with the models listed below.

β οΈ Chevy Tahoe Problems
Now for the problem years. If you see one of these on a lot, think twice, and inspect twice!
The 2015 Chevy Tahoe, and the 2016 and 2000 all had more recalls than any other year. Complaints are high for brakes, electrical, and steering in the 2015 Tahoe. But recalls aren’t the biggest red flag for everybody.
The 1999 Chevy Tahoe was reported to have fuel pump, intake gasket, windshield wiper, and door handle issues. The 2004 Chevy Tahoe was troubled by accessories problems, including inaccurate speedometers. Man, that sounds freaky! π¨
The handling in the 2005 Chevy Tahoe was a problem and was recalled several times because of it. Motor and wheels rates the 2007–2009 models as the worst because of engine problems, excessive oil consumption, and high repair costs.
Car problems show a massive number of complaints related to the airbag, equipment, structure, and electrical in the 2007 Tahoe. The 2008 had the same issues, so avoid both of these.
π²Price
You know what to look for, and Capital City Auto Auction will have many of these each month.

Of course, auctions are about bidding, and the more valuable the car, the more bids, and the more bids, the higher the sale price. So plan your strategy carefully. Always set a budget, and stick to it, no matter what.
